November 7, 2013

What a great day for a Field Trip!!  It started out a little chilly but it turned out to be a great day!  Our class started at Edgewood College and we learned about the water cycle and sources of water.  We played a fun game where we were water drops and we moved throughout the water cycle.  Ask your child where most of the drops (students) ended up. We also built mini ecosystems that we will use for some experiments in the next couple of weeks. We walked down in the marsh and along the shoreline of Lake Wingra on the boardwalk.  It was a neat adventure and luckily no one fell in!! After lunch in the Sondregger Science building we found some leaf piles to jump in, for a much needed recess, before we headed off to Memorial High School.  The planetarium was cool and we even saw a picture of school taken from high up in the sky.  Thanks to our chaperones for helping out!!  We couldn't do this without you.

Happy Halloween!!!

We had a great time parading through the halls of Windsor in our costumes.  The party was a hit - thanks again to all of you who sent in treats, drinks, and paper goods for our party.  We started doing a little Halloween graphing and then they were off to art. During writing we came up with some interesting tales on what happens to Jack-o-Lanterns after Halloween. Our afternoon was spent doing various activities in different Second grade classrooms.

Pizza and Pajama Party!!

Thank you again to all of you who donated money for pizzas and ice cream sandwiches or sent in juice boxes, veggies, and fruit.  We had a very fun morning!!  A few students were  heard saying it was the best day ever in Second Grade!!

Another guest blogger - this time it is about our Crane Foundation Field Trip that we took a few weeks ago.

This year on May 10, 2013 we went to the International Crane Foundation.  When we got there we watched a video.  Then we went outside to see all of the cranes.  The one with the nest was the Whooping Cranes.  The one with a yellow mohawk on top of its head is the Golden Crown Crane. - Grace
