What a great day for a Field Trip!! It started out a little chilly but it turned out to be a great day! Our class started at Edgewood College and we learned about the water cycle and sources of water. We played a fun game where we were water drops and we moved throughout the water cycle. Ask your child where most of the drops (students) ended up. We also built mini ecosystems that we will use for some experiments in the next couple of weeks. We walked down in the marsh and along the shoreline of Lake Wingra on the boardwalk. It was a neat adventure and luckily no one fell in!! After lunch in the Sondregger Science building we found some leaf piles to jump in, for a much needed recess, before we headed off to Memorial High School. The planetarium was cool and we even saw a picture of school taken from high up in the sky. Thanks to our chaperones for helping out!! We couldn't do this without you.

Happy Halloween!!!
We had a great time parading through the halls of Windsor in our costumes. The party was a hit - thanks again to all of you who sent in treats, drinks, and paper goods for our party. We started doing a little Halloween graphing and then they were off to art. During writing we came up with some interesting tales on what happens to Jack-o-Lanterns after Halloween. Our afternoon was spent doing various activities in different Second grade classrooms.

Another guest blogger - this time it is about our Crane Foundation Field Trip that we took a few weeks ago.
This year on May 10, 2013 we went to the International Crane Foundation. When we got there we watched a video. Then we went outside to see all of the cranes. The one with the nest was the Whooping Cranes. The one with a yellow mohawk on top of its head is the Golden Crown Crane. - Grace
(Editor's note - we don't have a picture of the Golden Crown Crane. I think it was the guest blogger's favorite.)

I am introducing Caleb, he is a new student in our room.
He is mostly happy all the time, and his favorite subject is math. He
wants to make a power project. He plays super heroes at recess. His favorite
teacher is Ms. G. He wants to ride a dirt bike.
p.s. he’s awesome

The school year is almost done.
I can't believe that I'm going to go to 3rd grade.
I'm going to miss Miss G. for ever and ever.

Hello,
I have invited a guest blogger to share our adventure to the Big Hill with you. We will have several guest bloggers as we wind down our school year.
I have invited a guest blogger to share our adventure to the Big Hill with you. We will have several guest bloggers as we wind down our school year.
On
April 29, 2013, our
class went to the
Big Hill. We learned a lot of new stuff!
Things like Bluebirds are
really rare in
Wisconsin, so they have
special bird houses
just for them!
And every Spring or Fall, they burn the prairie.
I know it sounds bad, but it`s
actually good!
Do you know why? Because there
are plants that
they want to see and
don`t want to
see. For example, one of
the plants that they
don`t want to see is Wild
Parsnip. I can`t think of anything that they do want to see. Oh! I just thought
of
one! They like to see Coneflowers. The teachers
there are:
Mrs. Brockel, and Mr. and Mrs. Kahl.
They are super nice! Anyway, our trip to the Big Hill was awesome!
I really like
to go to the Big
Hill each year. But I`m
kind of glad
we didn`t go yesterday, because
it was eighty-three
degrees yesterday! Anyway, it
was super fun
going to the Big Hill! That's all for now, Emma

Math Explorations
Here we are exploring different math concepts. One station involves trying to figure out how many different ways you can make a dollar using quarters, dimes, and nickels. Another one uses geoboards to make different arrays. The last one involves using a handful of counters and then tossing a dice to see how many equal piles you have to divide those counters into.
